Today I began, just a wee little thing<\/span><\/p>\n

You don\u2019t know I\u2019m around, your little offspring<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m really so small, but all of me is here<\/span><\/p>\n

My genetic makeup already so clear<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m a part of him and a part of you<\/span><\/p>\n

My biggest wish, that you carry me through<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, another day, I am four weeks old<\/span><\/p>\n

Maybe you haven\u2019t even yet been told<\/span><\/p>\n

That I\u2019m growing inside of you; but I\u2019m still me<\/span><\/p>\n

Its already determined if I\u2019m a he or a she<\/span><\/p>\n

The colour of my eyes, or if I\u2019ll be tall<\/span><\/p>\n

All of it established even though I\u2019m so small<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, another day, I am eight weeks old<\/span><\/p>\n

Hopefully to you, I\u2019m a sight to behold<\/span><\/p>\n

My tiny little body has tripled in size<\/span><\/p>\n

My miniature heart beating out its reprise<\/span><\/p>\n

My fingers and toes have started to form<\/span><\/p>\n

As I lay here inside you, so cozy and warm<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, another day, I am twelve weeks old<\/span><\/p>\n

My vital organs are functioning so bold<\/span><\/p>\n

I can kick and stretch, but you won\u2019t feel me yet<\/span><\/p>\n

Although I might make your stomach upset<\/span><\/p>\n

I can close my fingers and curl my toes<\/span><\/p>\n

I hope, for me, its life that you chose<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Today, another day, I am sixteen weeks old<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m living inside you, you\u2019re my stronghold<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m safe in here, you\u2019ll protect me right?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Cause I\u2019m too little to defend myself in a fight<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s you I need, as I continue to grow<\/span><\/p>\n

And daddy too, to be my hero<\/span><\/p>\n

You may have felt me as I find my foothold<\/span><\/p>\n

My delicate chest now rises and falls<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m practicing to breathe for outside these walls<\/span><\/p>\n

My little mouth is swallowing more<\/span><\/p>\n

And my senses are blooming, in case you\u2019re unsure<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, another day, I am twenty-four weeks old<\/span><\/p>\n

My body fat is growing to protect me from cold<\/span><\/p>\n

My lips and eyes are clear to see<\/span><\/p>\n

My brain is growing, so rapidly<\/span><\/p>\n

My lungs are developing and now I can hear<\/span><\/p>\n

So talk to me please, so I know that you\u2019re near<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, another day, I am twenty-eight weeks old<\/span><\/p>\n

I can hear your voice, have you been told?<\/span><\/p>\n

I can open my eyes and turn my head<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m getting fatter, or so they said<\/span><\/p>\n

I sleep and wake in regular spaces<\/span><\/p>\n

As long as I find the most comfortable places<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, another day, I am thirty-two weeks old<\/span><\/p>\n

A round little basketball is what I\u2019ve been called<\/span><\/p>\n

I can tell the difference between dark and light<\/span><\/p>\n

My legs are growing to give me some height<\/span><\/p>\n

My hair is growing and I\u2019m gaining weight<\/span><\/p>\n

As you count down the weeks until my due date<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, another day, I am thirty-six weeks old<\/span><\/p>\n

Your energy is probably starting to fold<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m gaining about twenty-eight grams a day<\/span><\/p>\n

Filling out your tummy where I don\u2019t plan to stay<\/span><\/p>\n

No doubt that I poke you with my elbows and feet<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m getting so excited as we prepare to meet<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, another day, I am forty weeks old<\/span><\/p>\n

My impatience to see you cannot be controlled<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m fully developed, past ready to come<\/span><\/p>\n

Although I might spend some more time in here, mum<\/span><\/p>\n

My head is down and I\u2019ll be on my way soon<\/span><\/p>\n

Apparently its time to leave this cocoon<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve grown so much since I weighed less than a gram<\/span><\/p>\n

I think that it\u2019s clear, I\u2019m part of a plan<\/span><\/p>\n

That my life has mattered from the day I began<\/span><\/p>\n

The doctor was right when he made the great call<\/span><\/p>\n

That a person\u2019s a person, no matter how small.<\/span><\/p>\n
