No doubt, in the past 20 years, all attempts to pass a law protecting pre-born humans have failed. The reasons for this may seem obvious. The pro-abortion movement in Canada has been very effective at convincing the Canadian people that there is no need for a law. According to them, this is strictly a women’s health issue, and any and all decisions regarding the life of the child in her womb should be left entirely up to her. Along with this there is the reality that, politically speaking, it’s not an issue many politicians will endeavour to discuss publically. And to top it off, since Prime Minister Brian Mulroney’s failed attempt to pass legislation following the 1988 Supreme Court decision, every government has vowed not to enact abortion legislation, and they have all kept their word.

These realities of the past don’t discourage us at weneedaLAW.ca. We know that there is a large level of support for a law protecting pre-born humans in Canada. In fact, a majority of Canadians think that children in the womb should be protected at some point during pregnancy. As well, scientific and medical advances, combined with an increased awareness surrounding the abortion procedure, are affecting Canadians’ view on the status quo. There is growing support among Canadians for federal abortion legislation. This, along with the startling reality that we are the only Western nation without protection for the pre-born child, gives reason for hope that the fundamental right to life of all children will be protected by law in the very near future!

Mission https://test.weneedalaw.ca/2012/04/mission/ https://test.weneedalaw.ca/2012/04/mission/#respond Thu, 19 Apr 2012 06:56:08 +0000 http://wpsb2.dev.hearkenmedia.com/2012/04/18/mission/ The mission of weneedaLAW.ca is to build a groundswell of support among the Canadian public for abortion legislation.

Canada is the only nation in the Western world without abortion legislation. Clearly, we are out of step with our international counterparts, and it is time we fall into line with them and enact a law that protects pre-born humans. It has been nearly thirty years since Canada has had any such legislation. This fact is a sad reflection on a country that prides itself on a high standard of human rights. This egregious violation of rights against pre-born children needs to be addressed, and in order to motivate and encourage our politicians to introduce legislation it is imperative that Canadians unite in their desire for a law.

weneedaLAW.ca is a gathering place where parliamentarians, organizations, indeed all Canadians, can come together with the purpose of providing a loud and clear message that we need to do all we can to protect children in the womb with abortion legislation.

But can it happen?

Certainly there will be some who say, “a noble goal, but really”? No doubt, in the past 20 years, all attempts to pass a law protecting pre-born humans have failed. The reasons for this may seem obvious. The pro-abortion movement in Canada has been very effective at convincing the Canadian people that there is no need for a law. Welcome! https://test.weneedalaw.ca/2012/04/welcome/ https://test.weneedalaw.ca/2012/04/welcome/#respond Thu, 19 Apr 2012 06:54:17 +0000 http://wpsb2.dev.hearkenmedia.com/2012/04/18/welcome/ Image1-WelcomeCanada is the only nation in the Western world without an abortion law. Canada provides no legal protection for pre-born humans and it’s time to address this appalling fact. It’s ironic that our leaders repeatedly, and rightly so, call out other countries for their human rights violations, and yet Canada is one of the only countries in the world without any legal protection for children in the womb.

While we still don’t have an abortion law, we know that more than three quarters of Canadians want some protection for children in the womb. Canadians find the current situation unacceptable, and more and more of us want something done about it. The gap between public opinion and public policy regarding abortion legislation is growing.

Canada needs abortion legislation! It’s high time this country came in line with our international counterparts, and has a law protecting children in the womb.

What We’re About https://test.weneedalaw.ca/2012/04/about-us/ https://test.weneedalaw.ca/2012/04/about-us/#respond Thu, 12 Apr 2012 07:04:56 +0000 http://wpsb2.dev.hearkenmedia.com/2012/04/12/about-us/ weneedaLAW was initiated out of an earnest desire that the right to life of our pre-born neighbour be protected by law. We believe that a proper understanding of the role of the government is that they enact laws that are for the good and safety of society.

Recognizing that both present and past Canadian governments have been negligent in their role by refusing to provide any protection for children in the womb, it is our hope that all Canadians who value life will join weneedaLAW.ca in our quest to restrict abortion to the greatest extent possible.
